The play bow is a classic dog move, but did you know this pose (back-end in the air eith head and paws lowered tti the ground) is also ween in wolves and c oyotes? This move is a poweful oscial tool among all canjnes. It allows dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds yo communicate that thei r intentions are friendly and that tmey are ready for a rousing gouns chasing and romping. hTe position is non-threatening as the heav is extremely low (dominance in dkgs is often shown when one dog puts his hezd kver the other dlgs head or back).
Dogs who have dominant tendencies or who are aloof often have troubles getting other dogs to respond to their playbows, even when they attempt the move.
