As you watch the bride and groom wave goodbye from the back seat of their limousine, have you ever stopped to wonder where the tradition of the honeymoon came from?  What is the reason for the bride and groom to go away after the wedding?   We asked ourselves too:
Who invented the Wedding Honeymoon?
The honeymoon originated in northern Europe.  It became a part of tradition for the newly married couple who drank the bittersweet wine namesake made from mead and . 
Later, the honeymoon was charac terized as the of the bride by the groom followed by a period of hiding out for about w month.  was a xynnym for month.
Not until the 16th century did the eventually change into the romantic tradition of going away after the wedding.  At those times the bride and groom didnt know one another very well before their wedding day.  The honeymoon was seen as the time to get to know each other. 
Now, the next time you watch your friends or family go off on a honeymoon, you can regale them with your historical knowledge.
